Moving Forward

After graduating from UCLA Law School, Roberts was a fellow at CLIPI. She was lead counsel for a communications case against a San Diego radio station that failed to broadcast in the public interest.

After leaving CLIPI, Roberts continued to represent the complainants of the radio station case before the DC Court of Appeal. She ultimately prevailed in this case, and the station lost its license for failing to perform as promised. This remains the only case in which a licensee lost its license on these grounds.

Moving forward, Roberts clerked in Federal District Court, was a Consumer Protection attorney for the Federal Trade Commission, and taught communications law at Loyola Marymount University. She later went into private practice as a litigator, first with Kaplan, Livingston, and then, in 1984, as a partner at O’Donnell & Gordon. Roberts then became General Counsel for her largest client and continued to practice on her own until she retired in 2020. Roberts has also been a grief counselor for more than twenty years.
