Moving Forward

After graduating from Stanford Law School, Belin served as a CLIPI fellow and then staff attorney. While at CLIPI, Belin worked on numerous environmental cases, including Margolin, which challenged the LA County Planning Department’s improper support of illegal land subdivisions.

Belin joined Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger, specializing in land‑use, environmental, and tribal issues. She later practiced environmental, natural resource, water, and Indian law in Santa Fe, New Mexico, serving under New Mexico Attorney General Tom Udall, and working as Counselor to the Deputy Secretary of the Interior Department in Washington, D.C.

In 2017, Belin moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and started her own consulting firm, specializing in water law and resources, environmental law, public lands, endangered species, and tribal law. In 2022, she became a member of the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board. Belin helped develop and enforce the water quality control plan for the San Francisco Bay Area.

Belin passed away in late 2025.
