The History of Armani and Armani Glasses

The Armani fashion label is one of the most well recognised brands around the world, and is associated with a number of different products. Armani was started by Giorgio Armani in 1975, and by the year 2001 he was acclaimed as the most successful fashion designer ever to come from Italy. Armani is particularly well known for its menswear range, although it has also diversified into a number of other product areas.
Some of the products being designed and sold through the Armani brand include Armani glasses (Armani Brillen) , perfumes, luggage, swimwear, and a variety of fashion accessories. Armani sunglasses are a relatively new addition to the Armani catalogue, although they have also become a highly desirable fashion item in the 21st century.

Giorgio Armani began his career as a window dresser at La Rinascente in Milan. He moved on to become a buyer for the menswear department, where he gained a lot of experience that he would use later in his career. In the mid 1960s, Armani moved to the Nino Cerruti company, where he designed menswear products for the next decade. During this time he also started freelancing and working for other companies, while continuing his work for Cerruti. In 1975, Armani founded the Giorgio Armani Spa in Milan with his friend Galeotti, and in October he presented his first ever collection of menswear products in the Spring and Summer collection of 1976. While the Armani brand was often associated with menswear, especially during its early days, it is interesting to note that Armani also produced a women’s line during this first season.

The Armani label grew throughout the 1970s and 1980s, especially after 1979 when he founded the Giorgio Armani Corporation. Armani became a very famous fashion force during the 1980s, when it released a number of well known collections in both the menswear and women’s wear ranges. Armani also began diversifying during this time, after they signed an agreement with L’Oréal to create perfumes and released Armani Junior, Armani Jeans, and Emporio Armani lines. This was followed in 1982 by the introduction of Emporio Underwear, Swimwear, and a number of Armani Accessories. Since this time, Armani has introduced a number of other products, including skiwear, cosmetics, home furnishings, and sunglasses. Today, there are over 60 Armani boutiques around the world, scattered over 37 countries and growing all the time.
